Also, special guest speakers include Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley and Ward 4 Councilwoman Francis Allen-Palenske. They, along with others, joined state officials and local veterans for the groundbreaking.
Veterans Memorial Park Groundbreaking Partnerships
This memorial encompasses a partnership of the City of Las Vegas, State of Nevada, and the Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE, an independent 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that supports city initiatives. Nevada Department of Services, Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas, Life, Rafeal Construction, City of Las Vegas Public Works Department, Park & Recreation, Cultural Affairs Departments.
Memorial Features
The memorial features 18 larger-than-life bronze statues, each standing 7.5 feet tall, representing American military service from the Revolutionary War to the present day. Originally commissioned by the State of Nevada in 2011, the sculptures are being relocated from outside the former Grant Sawyer State Building to a new permanent home in the northwest region of Las Vegas.

In conclusion, I have a personal draw to this project. As a Veteran who served 12 years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Midway during the time Saigon fell in March of 1975. It was a very interesting time. I encourage all to enjoy the new Veterans Memorial Park often.
