An Nextdoor Message Open to Leadership

This excerpt from a recent post by Nirav Tolia, Co-Founder & CEO of Nextdoor, outlines the platform’s evolving vision:

“Relevance, utility – and most importantly – community. Because more than anything, we believe in the power of local community… to bring neighbors together and create stronger, safer, and happier neighborhoods for all involved.”

It’s a Noble and Meaningful Mission. However, based on my recent experiences, I must respectfully disagree that Nextdoor is currently fulfilling it.

Mr. Tolia also said:

“We chose a house for our logo because it felt right—community starts with neighborhoods, and neighborhoods start with homes.”
On this, he’s absolutely right.

open message to nextdoorAs a dedicated community contributor, I’ve posted daily updates to my Nextdoor group/page for nearly a year. My content is focused on building connection and awareness — including traffic alerts, local events, holiday shows, and safety reminders. These are the types of updates that support the very mission Nextdoor claims to uphold.

Breakdown in Customer Service

Unfortunately, since October 2024, I’ve encountered a concerning breakdown in customer service. My personal account was placed on Read-Only status (until January 2026) for “spam” — without any clear explanation or opportunity for resolution. Every attempt to engage with support has been met with what appears to be AI-generated responses and no meaningful interaction. Not one live representative has contacted me directly.

As a result in the breakdown in customer service, both my Groups suffer. Centennial Hills Las Vegas NV and LDS Temple Las Vegas NV. Each have 152 members and 45 members respectively. Read-Only mode forbids me from servicing these. This is not what Nextdoor is all about.

I’ve attempted to escalate this respectfully, reaching out to customer service contacts, fellow reviewers, Sarah Leary, and even Mr Nirav Tolia himself — all without success.

I take this platform and my local reputation seriously, which is why I’m voicing these concerns publicly. If Nextdoor truly believes in fostering community, it must start with listening — not silencing.

Sincerely,
Randy Bridges
